In Wednesday’s (1/28) Express-Times (Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania), Susan Kalan reports, “The Allentown Symphony Association announced Sheila Evans as its executive director. She will manage both the Allentown Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Hall. Evans assumed responsibilities Jan. 5, according to a news release Tuesday. Evans, 54, who hails from Lincoln, Neb., holds a master’s degree in marketing and finance from Arizona State University in Tempe. She has more than 20 years of corporate experience, the news release said. The Kansas City resident spent 17 years at Sprint-Nextel. Evans also has 27 years experience working in the arts, including as a violinist with the Civic Orchestra in Kansas City and serving in such leadership capacities as board chair, board member and fundraiser with the Lyric Opera, also in Kansas City. … Evans said her plans to expand the symphony’s audience base include establishing an affordable ticket price for students and creating a link with the local colleges and universities in bringing events to the Symphony Hall stage.”
