Freeman_SO08.pngThe Philadelphia Orchestra has announced the appointment of MAKIKO FREEMAN as artistic administrator, effective March 2. She comes to Philadelphia from the Nashville Symphony, where she has worked since 2003, most recently as vice president of artistic planning. Freeman is a 2003 alumna of the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestra Management Fellowship Program, prior to which she served as artistic coordinator with the Silk Road Project and worked for Sony Classical, BMG Classics, and Columbia Artists Management Inc. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in trumpet performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a bachelor’s in German studies from Oberlin’s College of Arts and Sciences.
