Tuesday (7/7) on the Los Angeles Times blog Culture Monster, David Ng reports, “More than 600 arts organizations around the country can each look forward to receiving a big fat check in the coming weeks thanks to the latest round of grants announced today by the National Endowment for the Arts. The grants represent part of the $50 million in federal aid to the NEA from President Obama’s economic stimulus package. The new grants, which total $29.78 million, will be dispersed among 633 arts groups in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several territories. … Most individual arts organizations will receive between $25,000 and $50,000 apiece, while local government-affiliated cultural organizations can look forward to as much as $250,000 each. … The NEA said the money is intended to be used ‘to support the preservation of jobs that are threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn.’ ” For a complete list of organizations receiving portions of these funds, click here .
