The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is offering 4,000 free lawn tickets to all residents of Georgia’s Fulton County for its August 15 concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park. The concert, the final one of the ASO’s summer season, will be conducted by sixteen-year-old conductor Ilyich Rivas, who participated in last summer’s Cabrillo Festival Conductors Workshop in California and begins a residency as a Baltimore Symphony Orchestra/Peabody Institute Conducting Fellow in September 2009. At the outdoor ASO concert, Rivas will lead the orchestra in Verdi’s Overture to I Vespri Siciliani, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, with soloist Elena Urioste. Each Fulton County resident (with proof of residence) is entitled to a maximum of four free tickets, including one parking pass; they can be obtained at the Verizon or Woodruff Arts Center box office.
