The Memphis Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of DAVID NISCHWITZ as assistant director of patron engagement, a post that includes concert promotion, audience development, and patron loyalty activities. Nischwitz recently completed a year of in-service training in the Orchestra Management Fellowship Program of the League of American Orchestras. Prior to his fellowship year he served as marketing and public relations manager for the Phoenix Symphony. He had earlier held internships both with that orchestra and with the North Carolina Symphony, and had worked as box office assistant at the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra. Nischwitz holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in flute performance from Furman University and Arizona State University, respectively. He has served as a flute instructor, adjudicator, and performer in St. Louis and throughout central Arizona.
