A report in Monday’s (8/24) Pittsburgh Business Times states, “The Pittsburgh Opera on Monday said it has reduced its lowest ticket price 37.5 percent to $10 for the 2009-2010 season and is keeping other tickets at last season’s prices. “We are working very hard to continue to produce opera of the highest standard in the current economic climate,” Pittsburgh Opera General Director Christopher Hahn said in a statement. “We are delighted to be able to offer a very low starting price and continued discounts to groups and young professionals in the 2009-2010 season.” Season subscribers also receive a 15 percent discount on additional single tickets. Debra Bell, director of marketing and communications, said Pittsburgh Opera believes the lower ticket prices will allow audience members to continue to enjoy productions even if their circumstances have changed.”
