RICHARD B. NAYLOR has been named general manager of the Jacksonville (Fla.) Symphony Orchestra, effective in early September. Naylor is currently general manager of the Norfolk-based Virginia Symphony Orchestra. From 2005 to 2008 he was with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, first as operations manager and later as director of operations. He had earlier worked for Boy Scouts of America as district executive for Union County, North Carolina. Naylor attended Winthrop University (Rock Hill, S.C.), where he majored in music with a minor in business administration. While at Winthrop he interned at the Charlotte (N.C.) Symphony and worked part-time in that orchestra’s box office. He is also a graduate of the League of American Orchestras’ Essentials of Orchestra Management seminar.
