Following the death of Erich Kunzel, longtime conductor of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, the Pops announced that members of the public may sign a memorial book it has placed outside Music Hall on September 3 and 4. The orchestra also announced that it would honor Kunzel’s wish that it go forward with previously scheduled concerts, including season-opening concerts on September 11, 12, and 13; Jack Everly will lead those performances. The Pops has launched a memorial webpage at its website www.cincinnatipops.org with photos from Kunzel’s career, where tributes and remembrances can be posted; cards and notes for Kunzel’s family can be sent to the Cincinnati Pops office at 1241 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. Plans are underway for a special memorial concert in Cincinnati celebrating Kunzel’s life, with details to be announced at a future date. The funeral for Maestro Kunzel will be a private family gathering in Maine.
