In Thursday’s (9/3) Arizona Republic (Phoenix), Michael Clancy reports, “The Musical Instrument Museum, under construction in northeast Phoenix, now has an opening date. The 75,000-square-foot, $150 million building will open in April. Museum employees are likely to move in before the end of the year, and exhibit installation is expected to begin as soon as October. No details are available yet on plans for the opening, the first for a major museum in the Phoenix area since the Children’s Museum of Phoenix opened in a restored downtown Phoenix building in June 2008. … The exterior of glass and sandstone is nearly finished, while the interior looks as if it will take all of the next eight months or so to be completed. The museum will be home to as many as 10,000 musical instruments from around the world.”
