The Louisville Orchestra in Kentucky has announced that it will perform a concert with rock bands Airborne Toxic Event and Calexico. The concert will take place at Whitney Hall in Louisville on January 30, 2010. The indie-rock band Airborne Toxic Event is based in East Los Angeles and has performed at venues including Austin’s 2009 South by Southwest Music Conference and Lollapalooza at Chicago’s Grant Park and is slated to perform at Disney Hall in December. Calexico is a Tucson-based band named after a town near the California/Mexico border. Its influences include indie rock, Southwestern country, and mariachi tejano music; albums include Spoke, Feast of Wire, Garden Ruin, and Carried to Dust. Jason Weinberger, who holds the Louisville Orchestra’s Bruno Walter Associate Conductor Chair for the 2009-10 season, will lead the concert.
