In Tuesday’s (9/22) Indianapolis Star, Melanie D. Hayes reports, “Michael Feinstein, the Grammy nominated pianist, singer, and musical archivist, confirmed that he has a signed a contract with the Carmel Performing Arts Foundation to become the Regional Performing Arts Center’s artistic director. Feinstein is joining the center’s new executive director, Steven Libman, in leading the $147 million complex, made up of a concert hall and two theaters. ‘It means working with Steven Libman hands on in shaping all of the programs and activities that are part of Performing Arts Center, which is a massive job,’ Feinstein said. ‘It’s something that is crucial to the success to any performing arts center to program different events and concerts that will reflect the desires of the community, to create things that are fresh, that are synergistic.’ Feinstein, 53, lives part time in New York, part time in L.A., but spends most of his time on the road, traveling for performances. … Libman said a press release will be issued at a further date with more information regarding Feinstein’s new position.”
