The Colorado Symphony Orchestra has appointed SILVER AINOMÄE principal cellist to succeed JURGEN de LEMOS, who retired at the end of last season after 40 years with the orchestra. Ainomäe recently worked as a freelance musician throughout Europe, including positions with the Helsinki Philharmonic and with the Philharmonia in London. He began cello studies in 1988 at Talinn Music High School in his native Estonia, continuing his training at the Turku Conservatory and Sibelius Academy, both in Finland, and at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Razumovsky Academy. Winner of numerous prizes, he has performed as recitalist and chamber musician at a variety of venues in Europe.
