PAUL B. GUENTHER was named chairman emeritus of the Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York Inc. at a meeting of its board of directors on September 23. The title was bestowed in honor of Guenther’s thirteen years as chairman of the board, a responsibility that passed to GARY W. PARR at the same meeting. Guenther shares the emeritus title with former Philharmonic Chairman Carlos Moseley, who in his decades with the orchestra also served as director of public relations, as managing director, and as professional salaried president. In his role as chairman emeritus, Guenther will remain an active member of the board.
