ALANN BEDFORD SAMPSON has been named interim executive director of the Van Cliburn Foundation, based in Fort Worth, Texas. She takes up the reins for RICHARD RODZINSKI, whose retirement as president of the foundation after 23 years was announced in July of this year. Sampson has been involved with the Van Cliburn organization since its inception: as a volunteer with the First International Piano Competition in 1962; as a board member of the foundation since 1971; as founding president of the Cliburn Council; and as producer of the inaugural Cliburn Concerts Series in 1976. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in history, she taught history at Fort Worth Country Day School from 1963 to 1968 and later established a career in the banking field. She has held numerous board positions with local civic and charitable organizations.
