The San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory will honor music teachers at its fourteenth annual Celebration of Music Education Concert on November 8 at California Center for the Arts in Escondido. The orchestra will offer music teachers from the San Diego region free tickets to the concert and will host a reception for music teachers after the concert. During the concert the orchestra will present its Profiles in Music Education Award to JoAnn Dickinson Ford, a harpist who played with the San Diego Symphony for eleven years and taught in the San Diego Unified School District as well as at the University of San Diego and Azusa Pacific University. “We feel it is important to recognize the vital and significant role that our public school, private studio, and university music teachers play in the ongoing education of San Diego’s youth,” said Jeff Edmons, artistic director of the San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory.
