An article in The Reporter (Fond du Lac, Wisconsin) states, “The annual Fox Valley Symphony Youth Soloist Competition will take place Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Lawrence Conservatory of Music, 510 E. College Ave., Appleton. The competition offers young northeastern Wisconsin musicians from the counties of Fond du Lac, Florence, Marinette, Oconto, Menominee, Shawano, Waupaca, Outagamie, Brown, Kewaunee, Door, Waushara, Winnebago, Calumet, Manitowoc, Marquette, Green Lake and Sheboygan the opportunity to compete for the chance to perform with the Fox Valley Symphony Youth Symphony in concert and to receive cash prizes to help further their musical education. The Youth Soloist Competition is open to high school-aged students in Grades 10, 11 and 12 for the following instruments: string, woodwind, brass, percussion, harp and piano, according to a Fox Valley Symphony press release. Vocalists may also compete. The winner will perform with the Fox Valley Symphony Youth Symphony on March 15 at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in downtown Appleton.”
