The Cleveland Orchestra has appointed DORY VANDERHOOF chief development officer. For the past 20 years he has been a senior partner at Genovese, Vanderhoof & Associates, a leading North American cultural management consulting firm, and he also co-directs the Income Managers Program at the University of Waterloo (Ontario) Center for Cultural Management. Vanderhoof has served as director of development for the Canadian Opera Company; as director of Professional Opera Companies of Canada (now Opera Canada); and as a board member of numerous cultural organizations as well as the National Society of Fund-Raising Executives. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Bucknell University and an MBA from the Special Arts Management Institute of the State University of New York. A trained saxophonist, music director, and arranger, Vanderhoof has worked with such groups as The Coasters, The Drifters, and The Platters.
