KELLY WHELAN has been named general manager of the Lexington (Ky.) Philharmonic. A graduate of Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in music, Whelan is currently pursuing a certificate in arts management at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Previous posts include orchestra manager, Aspen Music Festival; general manager, Music Center of SCMI (Battle Creek, Mich.); administrative director, Opus 21 (Kalamazoo, Mich.); artistic coordinator, Detroit Symphony Orchestra; and operations assistant, Gilmore Keyboard Festival (Kalamazoo).
