An Associated Press report posted Tuesday (11/3) on Hawaii radio station KPUA’s website states, “The Honolulu Symphony might have to postpone part of its season and could file for bankruptcy protection because of new financial troubles. City officials have barred the symphony from rehearsing at Blaisdell Concert Hall until it gets some answers about the orchestra’s finances and plans for the future. Earlier this year, the financially troubled symphony fell several months behind in paying its musicians and administrative staff. In September, the organization was able to scrounge up money to pay wages due to a $1.8 million advance it received from the Honolulu Symphony Foundation. A little more than a week ago, two shows set for this weekend were rescheduled for next year, due to a lack of money.”
