In Tuesday’s (11/3) New York Times, Dave Itzkoff reports, “An eclectic roster of artists and entertainment industry figures were named to the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, the White House announced on Monday evening. Among the 25 people who were named by President Obama as members to the committee were the talent agent Bryan Lourd, the managing director and co-chairman of Creative Artists Agency; the actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Edward Norton; the cellist Yo-Yo Ma; and Teresa Heinz Kerry, the philanthropist and wife of Senator John Kerry. Also named were the actors Kerry Washington, Forest Whitaker and Alfre Woodard; the director George C. Wolfe; Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue magazine; Damian Woetzel, the former New York City Ballet dancer; and the architect Thom Mayne. In September, the committee, which works with federal cultural agencies and in the private and public sectors to further the White House’s cultural objectives, named George Stevens Jr. and Margo Lion its co-chairs and Mary Schmidt Campbell its vice chairwoman.”
