An un-dated report on WHKP 1450 AM Radio’s website (Hendersonville, North Carolina) states, “The Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra recently received two grants totaling $5000 to support of their educational outreach programs. The Perry N. Rudnick Fund at the Community Foundation of Henderson County awarded $2000 that will be used toward the 2009-2010 Youth Orchestras’ season.  The other, for $3000 from the Arts Council of Henderson County Grassroots Arts Programs, helped underwrite the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra’s 2009 Summer String Camp for area youths. For 28 years, the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra has sponsored the Hendersonville Symphony Youth Orchestras, a full orchestra experience for local youth. … The weeklong strings camp provides an opportunity for approximately 70 students in grades 7-12, who have at least one year of experience (on violin, viola, cello or bass) to be introduced to music theory and appreciation at levels beyond those provided by school music curricula.”
