Music at the Anthology, which annually commissions and presents works by young composers, is now accepting submissions for the 2010 MATA Festival, set to take place in April 2010 in New York City. Three or more commissions ranging from $2,500 to $6,000 will be awarded, and professional musicians will perform the commissioned works at the festival. The postmark deadline for applications is February 16, 2010; applicants must not have reached their 40th birthday by that date. MATA, founded in 1996 by Philip Glass, Eleonor Sandresky, and Lisa Bielawa, presents pieces by composers during a week-long festival held each spring in New York City. Composers who have been commissioned or presented by MATA early in their careers include Jennifer Higdon, Derek Bermel, Yotam Haber, Annie Gosfield, Julia Wolfe, and Randall Woolf.
