Connecticut’s New Haven Symphony Orchestra and its music director, William Boughton, are featured in Everybody’s Fine, a new film by Kirk Jones starring Robert DeNiro that recently opened in theaters. Portions of the movie—about a widower who takes a road trip to visit his three adult children, one of whom is a classical musician—were filmed at New Haven’s Woolsey Hall. For the film, Boughton served as a technical adviser and conducting double for actor Scott Cohen, who portrays an orchestra conductor. The film, released in theaters on December 4, has a score by Dario Marianelli (Atonement; Pride and Prejudice; The Soloist) and also features Kate Beckinsale, Drew Barrymore, and Sam Rockwell. For much of its history, the NHSO has performed at Woolsey Hall, one of the venues where it still gives concerts.
