The Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania has learned that it will receive a bequest of $205,000 from the estate of Marie Graupner Elias, a lifelong Harrisburg resident who died earlier this year. Marie Elias and her late husband, David A. Elias Jr., were longtime HSO subscribers who worked for many years in their business, General Machinery and Equipment Co. David Elias died in 1989. The Harrisburg Symphony will designate the funds primarily to bolster its endowment but will also use the money to sponsor Masterworks concerts and support other orchestra programs. In addition to the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra bequest, the Elias estate benefited organizations including three area churches, three nonprofits serving the homeless and poor, and four Pennsylvania schools.
