In Thursday’s (12/17) La Crosse Tribune (Wisconsin), Terry Rindfleisch writes, “Nobuyoshi Yasuda sees his role as a conductor as a coordinator and cheerleader for the orchestra. Yasuda, the third finalist for the position of conductor and music director of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, said 95 percent of his job as a conductor is studying the musical score. … Yasuda, who has conducted the orchestra at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire since 1991, will have his audition concerts with the La Crosse orchestra Friday and Saturday. He said he tries to instill passion in his musicians for the music to create good chemistry between the orchestra and the audience. … Yasuda, 47, has been music director of the Chippewa Valley Symphony since 1993. He said an orchestra’s music director needs to reach out to the community to promote the arts. ‘The music director must possess a dynamic personality with passion, confidence and faith in music and share your love for music with others through outreach,’ he said.”
