Posted on: December 18, 2009

The Bay-Atlantic Symphony in New Jersey will perform Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring ballet during one of its upcoming programs, with the addition of new choreography by Joshua Bisset. Bisset’s dance ensemble—Shua Group, based in Jersey City—will perform the premiere of Bisset’s staging during the orchestra’s January 2010 concerts at Cumberland County College, Richard Stockton College, and Rowan University, all in New Jersey. Music Director Jed Gaylin will lead the orchestra in the complete version of the Copland work, which exists in several versions; the music to the complete ballet was first performed in 1945 by the Philadelphia Orchestra, led by Eugene Ormandy. The Bay-Atlantic Symphony is in its 26th season and performs concerts and educational programs in Cumberland, Atlantic, Gloucester, and Cape May counties in New Jersey.
