Tuesday (1/5) on the Star-Tribune (Minneapolis) website, Claude Peck writes, “Symphony magazine’s new issue just arrived, and it features a couple of Minnesota Orchestra musicians—conductor Sarah Hicks and violist Sam Bergman—on its cover. The two are used to illustrate a story about musicians who also blog. Hicks and Bergman write for a site related to their duties as co-presenters of the orchestra’s Inside the Classics concerts (the next one is Jan. 27-28, devoted to music of Debussy). In current posts, Hicks describes her New Year’s Eve and her first Vikings game, while Bergman opines at length about a David Byrne story on Byrne’s website that Bergman faults as ‘a great big mess of fuzzy populist logic.’ Ah, the echo chamber. Anyway, the story in Symphony (it’s the mag of the League of American Orchestras)  also talks about some other noteworthy musician/bloggers whose Webby musings we have enjoyed, including pianist Stephen Hough and composer Nico Muhly. Ones we had not heard about but will be checking out are blogs by Tim Munro of the group eighth blackbird, and pianist Jeremy Denk.”
