Thursday’s (1/14) St. Louis Business Journal reports, “The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra is partnering with the American Red Cross to help earthquake victims in Haiti. The SLSO said Thursday it would donate to the American Red Cross 5 percent of its single-ticket revenue from orchestral series concerts over the next two weekends. Red Cross envelopes also will be available at these concerts so people may make personal donations.” On Sunday (1/17) Tulsa, Oklahoma’s KTUL News Channel 8 reports, “The Tulsa Symphony hosted the Red Cross’ emergency response team before and during the weekend performance. Symphony organizers asked the aid organization to give concert-goers the chance to donate, and in return, offer coffee for their generosity. Tulsa emergency response chair Lynn Fisher said money helps those in crisis the most. … Fisher said if a donor specifies that their gift is specifically for Haitian relief, it will go directly to that effort. The money will not be lumped in to a general relief fund.”

There are several ways to support Haitian relief efforts. Here are three: you may make donations through Partners In Health or Doctors Without Borders, or use your cell phone to text “Yele” to 501501 to automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund.
