In Wednesday’s (1/20) Hour (Norwalk, Connecticut), Chase Wright reports, “The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra began its 70th year of operation this month under new leadership. After nine months of searching, the NSO board formally announced that Audrey Szychulski would be taking the reins as executive director. … Szychulski brings more than six years of orchestra management experience to the Norwalk Symphony. She was previously employed as the executive director of The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes in Corning, N.Y., where she managed six seasons of productions and increased major donor gifts by nearly 300 percent, according to the NSO. Szychulski has already begun to implement several changes at the Norwalk Symphony, which she believes will keep the organization viable long into the future. … The NSO Web site, www.norwalksymphony.org, has experienced a complete makeover with user-friendliness in mind, Szychulski said. By utilizing social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, the Norwalk Symphony has also developed an online persona. The idea, Szychulski said, is to provide people with as many options as possible to better communicate with music enthusiasts.”
