South Carolina’s Florence Symphony has appointed ROGER MALFATTI general manager. He has held numerous orchestral posts including general manager, Long Island Symphony; managing director, Des Moines Symphony; and general manager, Savannah Symphony Orchestra. Malfatti has served on a variety of boards including those of the Masterworks Choir, the Art Trail Gallery Chamber Series and Photograph Exhibits, and the South Carolina Festival and Events Association, as well as on grants panels for the Iowa and Georgia state arts councils. He also taught arts administration at Drake University in Des Moines, and served as chair of the Metropolitan Orchestra Managers Association, a unit of the League of American Orchestras, then known as the American Symphony Orchestra League.
