“Tony Beadle, a musician with experience in performance and management from coast to coast, will serve as executive director of Rockport Music,” writes Gail McCarthy in Monday’s (1/25) Gloucester (Mass.) Daily Times. “Beadle, who begins Feb. 1, succeeds Kristen Harrington, who stepped down a few months ago as she is expecting her first child next month.” McCarthy writes that Rockport Music grew out of the month-long Rockport Chamber Music Festival, founded 28 years ago in Rockport, Massachusetts. The name has since changed to Rockport Music and the festival moves to a new performance center in June. Beadle, a professional double bassist, was chosen from nearly 60 applicants; early in his career as an orchestra administrator he was awarded a fellowship to study symphony orchestra management with the League of American Orchestras. He has held administrative posts with the Erie Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony, Oregon symphony, and the Boston Pops. Beginning in 2006, he was executive director of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra for nearly three years.
