The Amarillo (Tex.) Symphony has appointed ROSSITZA JEKOVA-GOZA concertmaster of the orchestra and first violinist of its resident touring and educational ensemble, the Harrington String Quartet. Jekova-Goza has also joined the faculty of West Texas A&M University as Harrington lecturer and violin instructor. She goes to Amarillo from Denton, Texas, where she was a violin lecturer at the University of North Texas. In addition to numerous recital and concerto appearances throughout Europe and the U.S., Jekova-Goza has held concertmaster posts at the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and at Switzerland’s Verbier Festival Orchestra, and has taught at the University of Arkansas, the University of Oklahoma, and the Encore School for Strings. Following conservatory training in her native Bulgaria she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Louisiana State University and a doctoral degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
