KEVIN SHUCK has been named executive director of the Boulder (Colo.) Philharmonic, effective March 2. He served most recently as director of communications at the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra in California, a post to which he was appointed in 2007 following two years as the orchestra’s director of marketing and development. Shuck is a member of the inaugural class of the League of American Orchestras’ Executive Leadership Program for Marketing and Development Professionals, and a 2005 graduate of the League’s Orchestra Management Fellowship Program. Prior to his fellowship year he served as operations assistant at the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (2003-04); as production assistant at Ravinia Festival’s Steans Institute for Young Artists (summer 2003); and as general manager of Playing Out Productions in Chicago (1999-2003). Shuck holds a Ph.D in molecular biology from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma. Trained in horn and piano, he has performed with two California organizations, the Prometheus Symphony Orchestra in Oakland and the Chabot Wind Symphony in Hayward.
