JULIA KOO has been named manager of education and operations at the Westchester Philharmonic, based in Westchester County, N.Y. She served most recently as program manager for the New York City-based educational organization Midori & Friends. Koo is also principal second violin in Manhattan’s Chelsea Symphony and president of its board. She has appeared as soloist with the Chelsea Symphony, the Korean-Canadian Symphony Orchestra, and Opus I Chamber Ensemble, and as an orchestral musician with Miami City Ballet, Florida Sunshine Pops, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, and the Clay Aiken Christmas Show. Koo holds an Ed.M degree from Teachers College, Columbia University; a master’s degree in violin performance from the University of Massachusetts; and a bachelor’s in violin performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins.
