The Vermont Youth Orchestra Association has appointed RONALD BRAUNSTEIN music director and conductor. He goes to the Burlington-based VYOA following seven years as music director of the pre-college orchestra of The Juilliard School. Braunstein has guest conducted widely in Europe and Asia as well as at the San Francisco Symphony, the Israel Sinfonietta, and the Auckland Philharmonia. Early in his career he spent four years working directly with Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic, a result of his win in the Karajan International Conducting Competition. Braunstein holds a bachelor’s degree in conducting from Juilliard and furthered his studies at Fontainebleu and Tanglewood Music Center.
