The Boston Symphony Orchestra has announced the election of EDMUND (TED) F. KELLY to a three-year term as chairman of its Board of Trustees, effective September 1, 2011. Kelly, who is chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Liberty Mutual Group, was elected a vice-chairman of the BSO’s Board of Trustees in 2006, after previously service on its Board of Overseers in 2003 and as a trustee in 2004. Also announced by the BSO was the election of STEPHEN B. KAY and ROBERT P. O’BLOCK to serve as co-chairmen, effective immediately, with terms running through August 31, 2011; they will fulfill duties of the late EDWARD H. LINDE, who chaired the Board of Trustees from September 2005 through January 2010 and whose term was to have ended in August 2011. Kay is a senior director of Goldman, Sachs & Co.; O’Block is a partner with McKinsey & Company.
