The first Bridge Records CD to feature the New York Philharmonic, spotlighting works by contemporary composer Peter Lieberson, is scheduled for release in May. The recording features James Conlon leading the Philharmonic and pianist Peter Serkin in Lieberson’s Piano Concerto No. 2 (“Red Garuda”); also on the recording are Rilke Songs for mezzo-soprano and piano, with Serkin and the late Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, the composer’s wife; Bagatelles for piano; and the Piano Quintet, with Serkin and the Orion Quartet. Bridge’s live recording of Rilke Songs with Hunt-Lieberson and Serkin won a 2008 Grammy award for best vocal recording. Among the American orchestras featured on previous Bridge recordings are the Riverside Symphony, based in New York City, and the symphony orchestras of Boston, Dallas, and Utah.
