ROBERT WALTERS has been named professor of oboe and English horn at Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, effective July 1, 2010.  He will continue to serve on the roster of the Cleveland Orchestra, where he has played oboe and solo English horn since 2004. Prior to Cleveland, Walters played both instruments as a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and he has performed as soloist or guest artist with such organizations as the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. He has taught at Bard College, Swarthmore College, Haverford College, and the University of Pennsylvania; current teaching affiliations include Aspen Music Festival and School, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, and the New World Symphony in Miami Beach. Walters holds a bachelor’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, and earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Graduate Writing Division of Columbia University.
