California’s San Luis Obispo Symphony has announced the appointment of BRIAN HERMANSON as executive director, effective April 22. He is now concluding a four-year tenure as executive director of the Cobb Symphony Orchestra, based in the Atlanta suburb of Kennesaw in Georgia’s Cobb County. Prior to joining the Cobb Symphony he served as director of after-school music programs at Crockett Charter Elementary School in Houston. Hermanson holds a bachelor’s degree and a performer’s certificate in clarinet from Eastman School of Music, and received advanced training in that instrument from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. He has performed in numerous European venues as well as the Sarasota, Chautauqua, and Colorado summer music festivals, and has recorded for the Nonesuch and Oxford University Press labels.
