Wednesday’s (4/7) Napa Valley Register (California) reports, “For 20 years, the Napa Valley Symphony has experienced [Music Director] Asher Raboy’s growth as a composer as well as conductor. This Sunday at Lincoln Theater, the Napa Valley Symphony will perform a retrospective of Maestro Raboy’s work as a composer featuring the world premiere of ‘The Last Twenty Years,’ a composition Raboy created as a reflection on this time. Under Raboy’s baton, the program will also include the revival of two previous works that were premiered by the Napa Valley Symphony ‘Orchestral Dances’ and ‘Piano Concerto.’ In addition, the symphony will perform Raboy’s highly-acclaimed piece ‘The Coming Storm,’ which was commissioned and premiered by the Stockton Symphony in 2008 under the direction of Peter Jaffe. The ‘Piano Concerto,’ commissioned by Al and Nancy Schleicher in 2005, features Raboy’s longtime collaborator Leon Bates as piano soloist.”
