A report Thursday (4/29) on the website for La Crosse, Wisconsin’s WKBT Channel 8 states, “After a two-and-a-half year search, the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra has a new conductor. Alexander Platt was selected from a group of six finalists to become the orchestra’s 13th conductor. Platt replaces Amy Mills, who was conductor for 14 years before she stepped down in 2009. Platt is currently Music Director of the Wisconsin Philharmonic, the Marion Indiana Philharmonic and the Maverick Concerts in Woodstock, New York. He recently completed three years as principal conductor of the Boca Raton Symphonia and ten years as the resident conductor and music adviser for the Chicago Opera Theater. … Platt’s debut with the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra will be at the Summer Pops Concert at Festival Foods’ Salute to the Fourth.”
