The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford (Conn.) has appointed EDWARD CUMMING interim director of orchestral activities for the 2010-11 academic year. In that capacity he will serve concurrently with his post as music director of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, where he is now completing his eighth season. A formal search for a full-time orchestral director at The Hartt School will begin shortly, with the winning candidate expected to be named early in 2011.
