Billboard has announced that it will host a Music App Summit in San Francisco on October 5, 2010, which will feature Music App Awards given to creators of music-industry mobile apps, including those made by orchestras. Awards will be made in the following categories: Best Artist App, Best Music Streaming App, Best Music Engagement App, Best Music Creation App, and Best Branded App. Billboard will select three finalists from each category, with one winner in each category selected by an independent panel of judges. Submissions are now open for the awards; there is a $100 submission fee for each entry. All finalists will be featured in a Billboard magazine article highlighting best music apps of the year.
