In Monday’s (6/7) Duluth News Tribune (Minnesota), John Myers reports, “A Duluth man said he lost his brakes on Superior Street in downtown Duluth this morning and had to pick a spot to stop his minivan without hitting pedestrians. Kurt Hegle was driving westbound in the west 300 block when he realized his brakes had failed. The van smashed into a plate-glass window at the office of the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. No one was hurt in the crash, which happened about 9:45 a.m. … Several Duluth Police officers were investigating the crash. The van hit the curb, crossed the sidewalk and hit the window but did not enter the building, eyewitnesses said. No one was sitting or standing immediately where the van hit, said Andrew Berryhill, DSSO executive director, but one employee was sitting near a window in another spot. ‘I’m glad he didn’t hit one window over,’ Berryhill said. ‘I guess people just can’t wait to get their season tickets.’ ”
