A report Friday (6/11) on the Minnesota Public Radio website states, “Everyone calls him ‘Skip’ James, but the man who sometimes refers to himself by the handle ‘Retro Trout’ will still be playing Handel, even as he has more time for tying flies. Skip James is retiring from the SPCO. His expertise on the piano and harpsichord, and his incredible versatility, flexibility, and musicality will be missed after 41 seasons as principal keyboard player. Classical MPR’s John Birge reminisced with Skip James about the good old days, the bad old days, and the day the stage lights went out during the Bach’s biggest Bach harpsichord solo!” The full interview can be heard here.
