In Thursday’s (6/17) Cincinnati Enquirer, Janelle Gelfand writes, “The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is launching a new summer concert series outdoors at Greenacres Arts Center in Indian Hill. The three-concert series will culminate July 29 with a chamber orchestra program conducted by Julian Kuerti, a rising star who guest-conducted the orchestra in Music Hall in April. The orchestra is not discussing details of its search for a music director to succeed Paavo Järvi, who will leave at the end of next season. But Kuerti made a big impression with the audience and orchestra when he stepped in on short notice after Järvi’s flight from Europe was canceled due to volcanic ash. Kuerti is assistant conductor to James Levine at the Boston Symphony Orchestra. … The ‘Greenacres Under the Stars’ series will open next Thursday with a woodwind quintet consisting of Cincinnati Symphony musicians Jasmine Choir (flute); Dwight Parry (principal oboist); Ixi Chen (clarinet); Jennifer Monroe (bassoon) and Lisa Conway (horn).”
