The ASCAP Deems Taylor Competition for Books, Articles, and Liner Notes on the subject of music, which was suspended in 2009 for budgetary reasons, is now accepting submissions of works from the calendar year 2009. Written works published in English in the United States will be accepted from June 15 to July 31, 2010. The awards recognize books, articles, broadcasts, and websites on the subject of music, selected for their excellence. The awards were established in 1967 to honor the memory of composer/critic/commentator Deems Taylor, who died in 1966. For further information, including instructions on submissions, contact Esther SanSaurus at 212-621-6323 or ensansaurus@ascap.com, or visit http://www.ascap.com/deemstaylor/guidelines.html. Symphony, the magazine of the League of American Orchestras, has won ten ASCAP Deems Taylor Awards, most recently in 2008.
