Colorado’s Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival will celebrate Eugenia Zukerman’s tenure as artistic director of the festival on July 2, when she will perform there with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Zukerman, Vail’s artistic director since 1998, will step down from that post following the 2010 season. The concert, led by DSO Music Director Jaap Van Zweden, will feature Barber’s Adagio for Strings; Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp, with Zukerman and harpist Yolanda Kondonassis; and Brahms’s Symphony No. 2. Zukerman, a flutist, writer, television journalist, arts administrator, and teacher, helped to create residencies in Vail for the New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and during her tenure the festival audience has doubled. The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival takes place this year from June 25 to August 3. Pianist Anne-Marie McDermott will succeed Zukerman as artistic director of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, beginning with the 2011 season.
