Norwalk (Conn.) Youth Symphony Music Director TARA SIMONCIC has been named assistant conductor of the Harrisburg (Pa.) Symphony Orchestra and music director of the Harrisburg Youth Symphony, effective in July. She has held numerous other posts including conductor, Histoire Chamber Orchestra and Flexible Orchestra (both in New York City); cover conductor, Manhattan School of Music; assistant conductor, Greenwich (Conn.) Symphony Orchestra; music director, Adelphi Chamber Orchestra (Paramus, N.J.); assistant conductor, Martha Graham Dance Company; director of orchestras, Wachusette Regional School District (Holden, Mass.); and apprentice conductor, Knoxville (Tenn.) Symphony Orchestra. Simoncic holds a bachelor’s degree in trumpet performance from New England Conservatory and a master’s in orchestral conducting from Northwestern University. She further her training through master classes in England, the Czech Republic, and the Russian Republic.
