Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Cal., has announced the appointment of SCOTT REED as president to succeed the retiring NANCYBELL COE, effective August 16. Currently vice president for institutional advancement at the Music Academy, he was selected following a seven-month nationwide search led by the Washington-D.C.-based Catherine French Group. Reed assumed his current post in September 2005 following nearly two years as associate director of development at San Francisco Opera. Prior to that he had served on the Music Academy staff as coordinator of alumni and student affairs, as major gifts officer, and as executive manager of the campus long-range facility upgrade campaign and permit entitlement process. Reed holds a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from the University of California-Santa Barbara.
